Weight loss and the new me.

July 28th, 2008 - I was looking at pictures from a night out with some friends and froze when I saw this photograph. I had been yo-yo dieting for years and had slowly been gaining weight since college, but I never realized how much until I saw this image. I immediately stepped on the scale... 158. I couldn't believe it. I felt so defeated that I ate some ice cream and went to bed.

After a semi-sleepless night, I woke up the next morning at 6 AM and went to the gym. I can't explain why I went... but I'm glad I did. I decided that it was time to make some changes in my life. It was that day that I gave myself 1 year to lose 33 lbs.

July 28th, 2009 - One year later, I stepped on the scale with a smile on my face. I couldn't believe that I actually followed through with something and accomplished a goal that seemed impossible. I lost 35 lbs by watching what I ate, drinking more water, eating an early dinner, and becoming more active.

October 13, 2009 - I've now lost 41.5 lbs. This experience has changed the way I live and the way I think. I was so pessimistic last year and pretty much had zero confidence in myself, but now I have a more positive outlook on life. I decided to try new things and especially when it comes to decorating my home. My new DIY attitude has not only improved my life, but it's also saved me a lot of money!

I've started this blog so that I can share my triumphs, my struggles, and my general shenanigans as I DIY my way through life (and my house!). I hope that someone who is feeling lost and defeated will read this post and realize that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, no matter what your struggle is.
